The Historic Daniel Boone Home is a four-story structure built between 1804 and 1810 in the Femme Osage Valley of St. Charles County. It was actually the home of Nathan Boone, one of Daniel's sons. It was also the last permanent residence of Daniel Boone and his wife, Rebecca, and was where Daniel died in 1820. Rebecca died earlier in 1813 while staying at her daughter Jemima Callaway's home near Marthasville Missouri.
The adjoining Boonesfield Village is a gathered collection of historic buildings representing the early 19th century that have been reconstructed to form a living-history village. The village includes a schoolhouse, a milliner's shop, a woodworker's shop, the Peace Chapel, complete with a reconstructed 28-stop Wicks pipe organ; the Callaway House; the Stake House, and the Sappington-Dressel House.
Guided tours of the Boone home that focus on the Boone family history are offered daily, Monday-Sunday; Winter tours are offered on Saturday & Sunday, December 16th-March 1st. These tours are enjoyed by all ages and can be customized for specific classroom requirements. The Old Peace Chapel can be reserved for weddings and other spiritual events. There are several special events throughout the year that are held at the Boone Home and Boonesfield Village. These events bring the sights, sounds and aromas of the American frontier to life. The Christmas holiday season is celebrated with Candlelight Tours. An admission fee is charged. See website for more info.
