St. Louis Downtown Airport is located just 3 miles from the St. Louis Riverfront, across the Mississippi River, in Cahokia Illinois. It is one of the oldest airports in the area, opening in 1929. Many early famous aviators visited the airport including Charles A. Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, and Jimmy Doolittle. Today it offers many services to pilots and businesses such as full service restaurant and lounge, aircraft hangers, aircraft charters, aircraft maintenance and repair. It also is home to the Greater St. Louis Air & Space Museum and has a certified flight school.
